So last Tuesday I made it official. I am quitting my job and becoming a dance instructor on a cruiseline. No. No that is not true. Only half true. I am becoming a dance instructor on the weekends. No, that's not right either. I am quitting my job. Why? Because its the best thing for me to do.
When I was offered a position with RBC DS, I was told I would be working for two financial advisors, eventually having the opportunity to earn commissions. Well, first, the one guy I worked for decided to retire, and the other doesn't really know how to use an assistant since he hasn't really had one before, and likes to do everything himself. When the receptionist left, I kind of threw myself into that roll in order to keep myself a little busier. It helped, for awhile. I greet clients each and every day, assisted them with their accounts and did anything I could to help. Which is something I love doing.
Then one day a client came in after her husband had passed away. She need to settle his estate and wanted to do it quickly. I told her everything I needed her to bring to a meeting with the advisor and booked an appt later on in the week. When she came back, the advisor was unable to meet with her, and I ended up helping her. I answered all her questions, had all the documents I needed signed, and was preparing to
waive probate on her husband's estate. (Which is quite the process, but worth it in order for the client to save lawyer's fees). She was ecstatic with the way I had dealt with her situation and told me she was grateful for how knowledgeable and personable I was while dealing with her. I think that was probably the best day for me for working at RBC.
Basically, I KNOW I can do much more than what I was offered here and what I was "allowed" to do. (I am as an assistant ALLOWED to do these things, but was rarely given the opportunity). I realize the advisors have credentials behind their name, but as an assistant I do have the ability to assist in ways like I mentioned which ultimately at the end of the day, make a huge difference.
I am moving on to a Credit Union, where I will hold the title of Loans Administrator to learn the ropes behind mortgage lending and personal and commercial loans. This will give me the opportunity to become an officer, and possibly use my skills I've learned in the investment industry to head that way in time as well. I am so excited to start my new journey which I think will improve my overall life immensely.

I have also renewed my gym membership and have starting committing myself to the gym. I plan to go at LEAST 4 times a week if not more. I have gone yesterday, and going today after work. :) My basic regime is 20 minutes on the treadmill, 20 minutes on the bike (Yesterday I was working out next to Ron Sutter...who was biking like an olympic athlete...I was like....DAAAAAAMN Ron, for an oldie you sure can move!!) It kind of motivated me a little...haha. I then go on a eliptical/ski type thingy (yes my equipment knowledge is AMAZING) for another 20 min. After I get the courage to go down to the mats where guys are doing handstand push-ups (like shown) and other guys and girls are doing mega ab work-outs, I take a small medicine ball and to side to side rotations for my stomach, along with a machine that works on my obliques (AKA BACK FAT). I never knew how much it would make a difference bringing my IPOD along...but its much easier to jam along to tunes...time goes by much quicker.
So here's to the new job and the new BOD!
